Finally got mic working in Ubuntu 10.04 Dell n4010

In my laptop, by default, ubuntu selected only the output source, no input source.

Simple solution:

Just click on the sound icon at the top right corner

in this, > Sound preferences

>>Hardware (Tab)

>>>Settings for selected device:

>>>>>Profile

Change this to : ‘Analog surround 4.0 Output + Analog Stereo Input’

 

That is It!!
